Liz Wilhelm's Biography

Personal

Liz was born in Bryan, Texas, a small town north of Houston. After graduating from a small, private high school, Liz decided to attend the University of Texas at Austin. Here she was accepted into the Journalism school and will graduate in May 2008.

Professional

History

Liz started working at the age of 15. Working mainly in the service industry, Liz has learned the value of hard work. While attending school full-time, she also held a full-time position at Outback Steakhouse where she was promoted several times. During the summer of 2007, she participated in an internship with Margaret Weis Productions Ltd., a production company that specializes in role-playing games. At this internship, she focused heavily on proofreading documents, while learning how to edit. Liz continues to freelance for the company, completing several editing and proofreading projects via e-mail. In the spring semester of 2007, Liz published a front page article in The Texas Journalist that was also published online.

Future

As college draws to an end, Liz is looking to a career in editing. Having a journalism degree, she would like to work for a newspaper or magazine, but will not limit her job search to AP-Style-based jobs. Liz has learned to work with different forms of media through classes and experience at The Daily Texan copydesk. With the experience from her internship and her full-time job as a waitress, she is ready for a challenging job combining the hard work of the service industry with the detail-oriented work of proofreading.

Etcetera

Although Liz's spare time is very limited, she does have a few hobbies. One is her love of the online role-playing game World of Warcraft. Another is her passion for perfecting her spoken Italian. After taking several semesters of Italian at UT, she has traveled to Italy twice and hopes to continue her education of both the language and the culture. Liz has one cat, Beau, who is her third hobby. Spending more time and money on him than anything else in her life, Beau is spoiled beyond reason.
